It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Rev. Mr. Dave Dupuis “Deacon Dave” as he was fondly known by many. Dave had several great joys in life, his family, his service to the community, his daily chats with anyone who needed to be heard. He worked at several “jobs” over the years but nothing compared to being a Deacon and serving the communities he loved. He truly believed that love was the answer to all the questions. Dave is survived by his loving wife Peggy, his daughter Lauri Ratz (Craig), his grandchildren, Jesse (Linesay), Jewel, Jaden and Dawson, his brothers Wilfred Dupuis and Raymond (Clara) Dupuis, his sisters-in-law Heather (Joe) Gordon, Dale (Larry) Stenlund, Lynn (Bruce) Dewitt, his brother-in-law Albert Gladu and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Predeceased by his Mom, Loretta Dupuis when he was approximately 14 and his Dad Simon Dupuis in 1982, his sister Diane Gladu in 2001 (this truly broke his heart), his brother-in-law Darrell Squier in 1992 and his sister-in-law Olavine Dupuis. We invite the family to come together at The Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (ABVM), 26 Second Street, Nipigon from 2 – 3 on Monday, November 6, 2017. We invite friends to come together with the family at the same church from 3-6 on Monday, November 6, 2017. Father T. Sawchuk will offer prayers for Deacon Dave at 4 P.M. on Monday at the church. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the ABVM church at 11:00 A.M. with Father H. Augustynowicz officiating. A luncheon will be served directly after the service in the church hall. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements in the care of Elliott Funeral Home Ltd., Nipigon, Ontario.

my condolences to Peggy and family. I knew Dave and Peggy from when we lived in Beardmore. The last time I saw Dave was a couple years ago when he was ministering communion to my mom while i was down for a visit. He had a warm, gentle soul..

To Peggy,
I knew Dave when you lived in Beardmore, actually I used to smoke fish down in Rocky bay as a summer student and you two were my favorite customers, my only out of town customers, but I looked forward to the visits. Later in life I was going down the wrong path and I knew it, but it didn't seem like I had anyone to talk to. Someone had told me that I should approach "deacon Dave". Not knowing he we my number one customer from years past I did and I told him my story and without any haste he gave me the advice and guidance I needed to carry forward on the better path. I'll always remember him for that because it was truly a turning point in my life and I've always kept him in a special place in my mind and in my heart for that and go back to his words when I get troubled of doing the right thing. I am a chief now and to imagine what I would have been had I kept going where I was headed would have indeed been a waste. He was there for me, a stranger with no aspirations but just to show kindness to someone else and that was the greatness he was always known for. There's a shortage of kindness in the world and I do strive to be like him, he really was and always will be a marvelous man and I wish there were more people like him because he lit up the world. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

We are truly saddened to hear of Dave's passing. He was such a special man who's love and kindness was so sincere. You could feel the love through the words he spoke and by looking at those smiling eyes and the smile on his face. I'm sure he brought healing and peace to a lot of people. He was an angel in disguise. He will be missed by many. Sending our deepest sympathy to you Peggy and to all his family and friends.

Deacon Dave had a beautiful spirit, a gentle giant, larger than than life personality, and so many of us will miss his presence. He was my 'guardian angel ' on more than one occassion and I will forever be grateful. I am so thankful that I told him how much I appreciated him the last time we spoke. Accept the love and support of your community Peggy. We all love you.

Peggy, we are so sorry for you loss. We grew up with David, his mom used to babysit Pam and I when my mom and dad started their own School Bus business. David would tease us all the time. He went to visit my father in law almost everyday when he was in the Nipigon Hospital before he passed in September 2012 and said some very kind words at his funeral. He was one hell of a person and he will be truly missed for sure.
