David Aris Obituary

It is with the utmost sorrow that we announce the unexpected death of David Jeffrey Aris at his home in Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia on December 27, 2020. David was the eldest son of Sandria and Sanfrid Aris of London, Ontario. He was born on February 25, 1964, growing up in Thunder Bay. He attended Shuniah and Lakeview High School, then completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Lakehead University. His career took him to Hamilton, Ontario, where he not only began his career with Economical Insurance, but also met the love of his life, Dale McDonald. He accepted a transfer to Halifax, Nova Scotia, made all the easier as Dale was returning home to her family who all lived in Halifax. David soon became a true "bluenoser" as he loved the city and the province. His wife, his home and his Labrador Retrievers became the focus of his life as he developed his three acres on Elbow Lake. Always a lover of the outdoors, puttering around "Daveland", having friends and family for a BBQ and a beer to watch a hockey or football game was what life was about for David.

David is survived by his parents, wife Dale, step daughter Lauren Moon (David Hommerson), brother Kevin of Winnipeg, and Christopher of London, Ontario. Also surviving are cousins Michael and Jason Aris of Toronto, Mark, Carol and Brian Jamieson. As well, the McDonald clan, Donna, Diane, Hadley and Denise all of Halifax.

Funeral services in charge of the R.A. Walker Funeral Home in Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia. Our deepest gratitude to all for their love and support. A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date.

Contributions in memory of David to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or your local Humane Society accepted with deep gratitude.

The 1st of the 1982 champion Lakeview Lions is already in the penalty box. However being born as a natural goal scorer, he will score when free. Seems like Dave continued on keeping everyone around alert. RIP #9

Thank you for these lovely words. Our hearts will be missing a piece until we meet him again. He was my second Dad and he always treated me as his own. He introduced me to my love for Lab puppies and his favourite show the Simpsons. Words cannot express how blessed I feel to have had him in my life for the past 20 years. Dave, the memories of your loving heart, kindness and constant laughter will live in my memories forever. Xoxo

San and Sandi, thank you for sharing your son with our family. He truly fell in love with all things Nova Scotia like my sister Dale, our sea air, and of course our lobsters. David was truly a celebration of life each and everyday of his 56 years. However you can take a boy out of Thunder Bay but you can't take Thunder Bay out of the boy. David always looked forward to his summer holidays with Dale and the dogs in his home province of Ontario.

San and Sandi, I share your sorrow and have a big hole in my heart. You can have some comfort in knowing David was happy, and treasured happy memories of childhood, and was proud to be your son. His heart was filled with love for you.
