It is with heavy hearts the family of David John Daniels announces his passing on January 16, 2016. David passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side. He was born June 14, 1958 and was the oldest of five children. In 1981, he married his high school sweetheart, Maureen Corbett and together they had three daughters. David studied Architectural Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology at Confederation College. Throughout his working career at Resolute Forest Products where he was employed since 1980, he worked in both the Engineering Department and as Superintendent on the #5 Paper Machine. David was an avid outdoorsman and could always be found somewhere down the Boreal Road. Spending weekends with his daughters, extended family, and friends at the family camp on Batwing Lake was his passion. David loved fishing at camp and many other lakes, including ice fishing; bird hunting and moose hunting in his earlier years. He took great pride in his garden. Family dinners were very important to him and he shared his culinary gift with his loved ones. David was predeceased by his father, David C. Daniels. He will be forever missed by his daughters, Lisa (Brent) Massaro, Laura (Richard) Irvine, and Lindsay (Tyler) McCoy; his grandson, Max Massaro; his former spouse, Maureen Daniels; his mother, Jackie Daniels; siblings, Jamie, Sheri (Dave) Hatcher of Owen Sound, Shaun (Josie), and Melanie (Brian) Graba; as well as many nephews, a niece, cousins, and aunts and uncles. He will be missed by his little dog, Patch and his special friend, Judy Hooker. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Valhalla Inn in the Scandia Room. Interment to be held at a later date. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Very late to be writing this, but I've just discovered this post... My sincere condolences to David's family and special friend. I met David decades ago through work, and we remained in touch for a very long time. I can say with a heavy heart: the world lost a wonderful man... Peace by with you.

To all the Daniels family. I worked with Dave many years in the Engineering Department but my best memories will be meeting up with him every summer at the Blues Festival. We will truly miss him.

To all of Dave's family - our deepest sympathy. We were saddened deeply upon learning about Dave's passing. Dave and I go back to grade 9 and St. Pat's High School. We were great friends and hung around together with "the gang". Dave also got me my first part time job at the Royal Eddie Hotel. He then introduced me to the girl to whom I would eventually marry. Even though we moved away, I still got to see Dave on occasion during visits home. You will be greatly missed my friend. Our prayers are with the family.

What a shock to hear of Dave's passing. I went to High School (and our kids bowling at Galaxy) with Dave and Maureen. After many years I ran into him just before Christmas and we had a quick chance to catch up. He spoke so proudly of his girls and his grandchild. So sudden a lossmy thought are with all of you.

I was fortunate enough to be one of Dave's many friends in College. As a classmate, I can't count the number of long nights working to deadlines that Dave's humour helped pull me through.
My deepest sympathy to his daughters and entire Family.
Rest well my friend.
