Dian, Alyson and Ryan are devastated that our husband and dad has become our newest angel. David's philosophy in life was to be kind to all he met and to do all that he could to help others. This philosophy and action brought him into the lives of countless people and who gave him such joy. If you were a part of my dad's life, thank you. My dad did not want any formal service so we invite you to come to the Urban Abbey (308 Red River Road) on February 24 between 2-4pm to share love and stories about David. Dad would want this to be casual, relaxed and as joyful as possible. If you would like to make a larger expression of memory for him, choose a way to help children, dogs, hockey or running.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire family at this very sad time. Dave always made well known his love for his family. I feel blessed to have known and spent time with Dave through volunteer activities for the Thunder Bay Striders, Heart of Thunder Bay Races, Ten Mile Road Race, and Sleeping Giant Loppet. He truly cared about everyone he knew and cherished time spent with others at these events. From those early mornings on race day for the Heart of Thunder Bay Races to being volunteer team mates as part of the early morning operations crew for the Ten Mile Road Race, it was always a pleasure to spend time with him as well as having a lot of laughs together. A good soul taken away from all of us who knew him way too soon, we have many fond memories from which to draw comfort. May he Rest In Peace.

Dave had a unique ability to be sincerely thankful whenever he was asked to help a friend. He made you feel as if you had given him the highest honour. We had such great times working together at the Heart of Thunder Bay Races, Sleeping Giant Loppet, 10 Mile Road Race and Staal Foundation Open.
Dave once told me that the biggest berries in the blueberry patch are always on the north side of the hill. That's a bit of advice that I'll always cherish.
My sincere condolences to Dian, Alyson and Ryan. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the Urban Abbey.

Carolyn and I were shocked and saddened when we learned of David's passing - he was such a special part of my life in Thunder Bay as we did so many great things together, from our predawn adventures on race day for the Heart of Thunder Bay races, to those long bike rides to Kakabeka and back, to so many golf games at Chapples including one nine hole round in December if you can believe that, to the happy years running and volunteering for the Ten Miler, to trying to deal with those gigantic zucchini he brought to our door every fall - Dave was a special part of my life in Thunder Bay and will always have a special place in my heart - god speed my friend, you have left us a way too soon - our thoughts and prayers are with your family whom he loved so much

Larry and I are so sorry to read of David's passing....so shocked and so sad. David was one of the first people I met when I moved to Fort William way back in the 60s. I counted him as one of my nicest friends, and I enjoyed the times we spent together over the years. I am sorry that we won't be able to attend the gathering as we are down in AZ. But we will think of him and smile. He will be missed. Dian, we are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I knew Dave through our customer / supplier relationship starting in 1980 and lasting until my transfer to Winnipeg in 2002. However, as Dave said many times, business was the least of our connections and we stayed in touch. He was not just an easy customer to deal with, but we would spend an equal amount of time just talking about the issues of the day. We did not always agree (he was decidedly more left-leaning than I) but it was never acrimonious. I was able to visit Dave last August, and although poignant, it was a very nice visit - he was able to get in a gibe about my weight and my love of Bob Dylan's music! But much of the visit was Dave talking so lovingly of his family, something I had been hearing for nearly 40 years. I felt that I had known all of you, to some degree, for nearly as long as I had known him. He was a true gentleman and a truly gentle man and I will cherish the memory of our friendship and of my visit last year. Again, I am very sorry for your loss.
