David Hamilton Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of David Charles Hamilton announce his sudden passing on February 13, 2021.

Dave was born in Port Arthur on August 20, 1951 and lived there until 1976, when he moved to Schreiber with his wife Shirley. He was employed with Kimberly Clark as a Sheet Metal Tradesman and over the years held various management positions at the Terrace Bay Mill until his retirement in June 2011. Dave loved Schreiber and was involved with his community in a number of capacities. He sat on the Executive of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109 for many years as President, Past president and then he took on the role of Zone Commander. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church and became a Diocesan Layreader. He was also a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels and was always willing to give a helping hand wherever and whenever needed. Dave felt truly honoured to sit on Schreiber Town Council these last 8 years, first as councillor and the last two years as Mayor. He valued the trust that the residents had in him and tried to live up to that trust. He enjoyed working with the other council members and he felt that Schreiber had the most dedicated and wonderful staff and employees ever. He also valued the many new friendships he made over these years.

Dave loved his camp at Sox Lake and always enjoyed his time outdoors with his son and other buddies, whether it be fishing trips, hunting trips or just relaxing with a cold one.

First and foremost though, Dave loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, proud father and grandfather (Tappa), There was nothing he loved better than to spend time with his kids. Our Hamilton Grand Adventures with his grandsons and children became the highlights of his life.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shirley, his daughter Marnie (Daddy's Girl), son Adam (Best Friend & Buddy), very Special daughter-in-law Amanda, and his precious grandsons, Aaron and Andrew. Also left to mourn are his sisters Hannah Hamilton and Helen (Darcy) Dufour, brothers-in-law David (Paula), Jack (Jeanette), Ted (Colleen), Len (Sue), Jim (Lisa) and sisters-in-law Dana, Pam (Kelly) Joanne (Howard) and Bev (Tim), sister of the heart Joanne, as well as his many special nieces & nephews and great friends. Dave was predeceased by his daughter Tara, parents David & Christina Hamilton, and Jack & Bobbie Winters and brother-in-law Bob Solotwinski.

If friends so desire, donations can be made to McCausland Hospital Long Term Care or St John's Anglican Church or a charity of your choice.

We will be holding a Celebration of Life for Dave at a later date when all his family and friends can gather together.

David you are the Love of my life - Our hearts are broken
and our lives will never be the same without you.
