“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains”
It is with great sadness the family of David Lengyel announce his passing on Aug. 10, 2021 at the age of 62. David was born in Sudbury, Ontario on January 20, 1959. His family moved to the little town of Schreiber, Ontario a few years later where they would make their home. The family's years together created fond childhood memories and stories to share for decades. At 21 years of age, David met the love of his life, Cathy. From just friends listening to vinyl and playing pool, their friendship grew over time and they became soulmates and created a life long marriage. From baseball tournaments, dances, bonfires to eventually creating a family of their own, the adventures they had together were endless. The simplest pleasures in life brought David so much joy. He could spend hours in his kitchen cooking or on the lake fishing all day, to then come home and share his catch with his family and friends. Dave was in his element fishing on his favourite pickerel lakes and could easily be spotted wearing his trusty Tilley hat. David was quite the Habs fan and was not subtle about letting others know. Hockey season was a loud, lively time in the Lengyel household and he revelled in the hockey banter amongst friends. His charisma was infectious and his sense of humour unmatched. If he had a nickname for you, you knew you were in Big Daddy's inner circle. Everyone who knew him has a funny or outrageous story to share. He was the life of the party and lived for making people laugh. David adored his family and was a proud Upa to his two grandchildren, Odin and Flora. His love for nature was passed to both of his daughters from early on as well as his love for animals. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Catherine and his two daughters, Samantha (Tim) and Koral (Shane) along with his two beautiful grandchildren, Odin & Flora. He is also survived by his sisters, Janet, Judy (Randy), Lynda (Keith) & Lisa (Danny) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy, as well as his cherished brother, Marty. Funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on September 4, 2021 in Holy Angels Church.
