McDONALD 03/14/34 to 03/15/26
Dad was born on the family farm in Wattsview, Manitoba where he grew up with his 5 siblings. Dad was proud of the fact that after leaving home with grade 8, he made his way up the rank to become CN Bridges and Building Master for all of Northwestern Ontario. During his career this territory extended from Fort Frances to Beardmore.
Dad enjoyed music and dancing, with Johnny Cash being one of his favorites. Dad was involved in sports, curling and golf being his favorites. Dad played many bonspiels. He was always ready, willing and able to have a drink and have it turn into a party. He enjoyed watching many sports especially curling, baseball (go Jays) and hockey. He attended many of his grandchildren's sporting activities.
He was known to attend church every Sunday at the casino to try his luck, which never seemed to go his way.
The family is grateful to dad's angel Irene for the last 5 years and all the extra help from Doreen and Holly, making them some of the best.
Dad is survived by daughters Irene, Doreen (Peter), Holly (David). Grandchildren Kayeleigh (John), Jaime (John), Jordan (Aurelie). Great grandchildren Antonio, Lucas, Sebastian, sister Arla (Rae), sisters-in-law Joan and Sharon, Stepchildren Evette, Gerry and Karen.
He was predeceased by parents Edward and Myrtle, brothers William and Donald, sisters Jean and Shirley, grandchildren Dustin and Derek, wife Carol and common-law wife Jackie.
As per dad's request there will be no service. If friends so desire donations made in memory of Dad to the dog rescue would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
