It is with great sadness that the family of David William Murray, age 78, announce his passing on March 31, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospice.
David was born on June 3, 1939 in Fort William. His career was with the City of Thunder Bay Fire Service where he retired in the position of Captain. He was very proud to be a Fire Fighter, and helping his community brought him great joy.
In his younger years, you could find Dave racing down the local ski hills. It is at these hills that he met the love of his life, Sharon. Together for 50 years they raised two sons and enjoyed time together at their family cottage at Silver Islet. Dave cherished his summers at Silver Islet where he could socialize with family and friends from all over Canada and United States.
Dave had a quiet demeanor, he was gentle, thoughtful and a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was a remarkable athlete and an avid supporter at his grandchildren's activities and sporting events. Dave was a proud member of the Elks Lodge. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Dave is predeceased by his parents, Bill & Verna Murray, sister Jane Ann Clarkson.
He is survived by wife Sharon, sons Paul (Lynn), Scott (Karen),grandchildren Courtney, Cody, Sarah & Evan, and sister Lynda (Rick) Perrier.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff at St. Joseph's Hospice and 4 North.
Cremation has taken place and a family celebration will be held at a later date.

We send our sincere condolence to Sharon, Scott, Paul and their families with the passing of David. He was certainly a well respected fire fighter who I had the pleasure of serving with for many years. Margaret and I both also enjoyed working with David in the Elks Hockey Assoc. where he was not only a great volunteer, he was the best name tag maker in the city. Do take comfort in the memories he has left you all.
