David Williamson Obituary

A celebration of the life of David (Dave) James Williamson, 76, who passed away on November 7, 2014 at TBRHSC, will be held at St. Stephen The Martyr Anglican Church, 494 Leslie Ave., at 1:00pm on Monday, November 10, 2014. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial. Dave was born on February 7, 1938 in Port Arthur, Ontario to Edmund "Ted" and Edna (née Doran) Williamson. Growing up in Current River, his formal education ended in the 8th grade at Prospect Street School. Like many of his era - he began his working life very young. Dave married Gloria Paquette in 1959. They were happily married until her passing. In 1972, Dave went to work in Ear Falls, Ontario where he was employed for many years as a carpenter at the Griffith Mine and then with the Red Lake District School Board. He enjoyed running a small business that specialized in glass repairs and installations. Dave and Gloria loved living in Ear Falls and its small town lifestyle. Dave gave many years of service as a Town Councillor and on other committees. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pickling, pie making and (really loud!) television. Upon retirement, they returned to Thunder Bay in 2004. Dave was happy to spend time with his siblings and enjoyed travelling (especially to Arizona), dancing, listening to music and going out to the trap line. He was blessed to have so many good friends that brought him joy over these past few years. Dave was preceded in death by wife and eternal sweetheart Gloria, son Craig Williamson, parents Ted and Edna Williamson, infant sister Marilyn, brother Gordon Williamson, son-in-law Bryan Lee, infant nephew Brian Paquette, father and mother-in-law Arthur and Pearl Paquette, brother-in-law Frank Earley, sister-in-law Pat Williamson, and sister-in-law Margaret Paquette. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Zarvie, Karen Mihichuck (Gary), and son Kevin Williamson (Sandra), brothers Ed and Stanley (Linda) Williamson, sister Ruth Earley, and sister-in-law Dianne Williamson. "Papa Dave" will be missed by his grandchildren, Sharlene McKay (Tim), Sharri and Kathryn Zarvie, Daniel and Victoria Lee, Allan and Mason Williamson, his great-granddaughter Bridgette McKay, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers Dave had requested memorial donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. We will miss him. Dad was a protector and provider. He was a good man. He is loved.On-line condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com"
