DAVID YOUMANS Obituary

YOUMANS
David "Doug" Youmans, 61, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away on February 7, 2024, at TBRHSC, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 30, 1962, David was the youngest (and, if you asked him, favourite and best looking) child of Bill Youmans and the late Shirley Youmans. He spent 22 years working at Northern Woods before starting his own handyman company. In his younger years he was a volunteer firefighter, taxi driver, and bouncer, among other things. David was a loving and devoted single father to Matthew, Jenny, and Jolene. He particularly enjoyed time spent together on their many road trips. He adored being "Big Papa" to his grandson, Sammy, and cherished every moment he spent with him. David had a special fondness for celebrating Christmas with his extended family. He delighted in the holiday season and particularly enjoyed when children mistook him for Santa Claus in public, a role he loved to play into. David leaves behind his children, Matthew Youmans (Khalisha), Jenny Diaczun, and Jolene Casanova (Daniel); grandson, Sammy Diaczun; father, Bill Youmans; sister, Debbie Eloranta; and brother, Daryle Youmans (Pam Kozak). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives. David was predeceased by his wife, Liz; mother, Shirley; sister, Donna Graver; and grandson, Alexander Diaczun. David will be remembered for his willingness to drop everything to help others, and his unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. David always felt death should be a time for joy, reflecting on the life lived, not the life lost. Which is why we will have a Celebration of Life this summer, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to post a nice, happy, or funny memory of David on his Facebook wall.

Deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of my cousin Doug.
I'm unsure if he was the favorite but really was, by far, the best looking Youmans. ;)
