Dayna Elizabeth Karle

It is with the heaviest of hearts and sadness that the family of Dayna Karle, age 31, announce the sudden, tragic death of their beautiful daughter, on September 19, 2021, in Thunder Bay, due to her struggles with addiction. Over the last nine months we consider ourselves very lucky to have shared laughter, fun times, hikes, family dinners, home videos, and many long stories with our “Poopsie”, as she worked on her recovery. We are grateful and will always cherish those special memories, especially our week this past August, at Oliver Lake.

Dayna was a charismatic, beautiful, bright light in any room she walked into. She knew she was loved, and we take great comfort in that. Her struggles in her short life were real and certainly greater than most will ever face in their lifetime. She was so BRAVE! Above all else, she will be remembered for her sense of humour and quick wit which we all loved.

Dayna was born to Carolyn and Randy, in Thunder Bay, on December 12, 1989, the best birthday present for her mom. There was always lots of laughter in the house with Dayna and her two brothers Trevor and Drew. She attended St Patrick High School, and later became an accomplished hairstylist. Dayna was also a natural athlete and spent many hours playing hockey in her teens. Dayna's natural charm made her an incredible “Auntie DK” to many of her friend's children. She had a special place in her heart for Jessica Hudyma and recently spent many hours as a support companion for her. During her recovery from addiction, she also followed her mother's passion for rescuing dogs, and ended up saving both cats and dogs. Recently, she found her new fur-love, Panda, with big, beautiful eyes just like her.

Dayna is survived by her mother and father, Carolyn and Randy Karle, and brothers Trevor (Caleigh Rankin), and Drew. Her Gramma (Joyce Karle), Aunts and Uncles, Beth Karle, Leslie Loponen (Lap), Rob Karle (Mara), Janine Karpowich (Ron), Jackie Karle (Dayna's biggest supporter), Rick (Anita) Hutton, Bonnie Fortin, Jack (Linda) Hutton, Dave (Charlotte) Hutton.

She is also survived by her many cousins Matti (Jessica (Matt) and Hadyn), Shawn, and Kristi (Rob-Alissa, Madison, Bradley) Loponen; Olivia (Richard), and Peter Karle, Alyssa Kwasny (Marc, Lucas and her mom Suzanne Kwasny); Katy and Craig Karpowich; Alex, Courtney (Mike), and Brennan Wilson; Karen Hutton (her other mom); Bob Hutton (Laurel-Stephanie, Alix, and Sydney); Dave Hutton; Joleen (Colin), and Lee Hutton (Joanne-Ethan and Wyatt); Steve (Michelle) and Cory (Kimmy) Zyromsky; Wiley and Carter (Stacey-Palmer and Emery) Hutton; and Brian (Melissa) Hutton.

Dayna had numerous friends, many who have helped her along the way, colleagues, and teammates. She also had allies in her recovery with special mention of Crystal who has become dear to the family.

Dayna was predeceased by grandparents John and Cora Hutton, Gordon Karle, and her uncle and aunt Don and Betty Hutton.

Please join the family for a Celebration of Life, on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 11am to 3pm, at the Neebing RoadHouse, on Hwy 61. The family will meet with guests both inside and outside the facility. Please remember to bring proof of double vaccination and a mask if you would like to come inside. A private interment will be held at a later date.
