DENNIS AUNE Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Dennis Gorden Aune, 80, of Thunder Bay. He passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, surrounded by family.

Dennis was born on January 27, 1944, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Gordon and Nellie Aune. He is survived by his loving wife Terri Aune. He also leaves behind his brother, Wayne Aune (Francis). His children, Lynne Rosengren (Ronnie), Phil Aune (Stacie Baranyk), and Debbie Banman (Mike). Dennis' grandchildren, Tamara Banman (Michael), great grandson Kaiden, Alyssa Aune, Caitlyn Aune (Kaden), Crystal Banman (Pierre), Cody Baranyk (Jessica) and Kelsey Baranyk (Kane). Terri's son, Stephen Ree, and grandchildren Avery and Aliyah Ree. Remaining to hold dear memories are extended family, friends, nephews, cousins and granddogs.

He is predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Gail Aune (1991), parents Gordon and Nellie, in-laws, Edwin and Clara Walmsley, and Terri's parents Archie and Nancy Dennique.

Dennis grew up in Elm Creek, Manitoba and worked for the family owned Texaco Service Station his entire childhood. He married his late wife Gail, in 1965 and shortly after they had three beautiful children. They lived in Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba for many years due to Dennis' work with Hudson Bay Wholesale. In 1978, the family moved and settled in Thunder Bay, where the family resides to this day.

Dennis met Terri and after many years together they married in 2006. They found love and friendship in each other, creating endless memories together over the years.

Dennis had various jobs throughout the years in Thunder Bay, including 18 years at Sasi Water. He dedicated his time to ACT/UCT for over 40 years and was on the original Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers Thunder Bay. Dennis was also a member of The Moose Hall for many years.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, especially the staff and nurses on 2B as well as Dr. M. Azad. We also want to thank the Renal Clinic and Dr. Rey Acedillo, where Dennis spent 3 years, forming many great friendships along the way. Their exceptional care and support during Dennis' final days brought comfort and peace to our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Port Arthur Lodge/The Moose Hall located at 434 Fort William Road, Thunder Bay. A burial will be held at a later date.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

Terri, Lynne, Phil and Debbie,
I smile often at the wonderful memories shared with my good friend Den!
Life in Elm Creek was never dull in and around the Aune household!
Life took us too far from each other but the bond remained!
May the happy times together bring a smile and ease your burden.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers!
Rest easy Dear Friend!
