Dennis Cromarty Memoriam

December 2, 1947 –
February 3, 1993
In loving memory of Dennis Franklin Cromarty (Cheeta), who left us twenty-five years ago, but whose presence we still feel in our lives. Patience in advocacy, and kindness are in the legacy he left.

With love from his family, Helen, Dennis Jr., Karen, Isaac, Kerry, Thomas, Elliott, and his granddaughters Anne, Charlotte, and Piper.

(An excerpt from a speech shortly after his death about a revelation that inspired personal growth.)

Between the time of my dad's death and the present, I've been able to reflect, and to re-evaluate my ideas about life. During this time, I've gained knowledge about the lifestyle I want to lead.

I always thought that success was important, but it's not as important as being content with my life. It's necessary that I be supportive, not only through monetary donations, but to give my time and effort to help various people or groups who need my assistance. To do this, I'll require a belief in myself, and in others that the desired outcome can be obtained. Faith is needed to provide the strength and the will to achieve any goals that I set. It's important to be generous, loving, caring, and thoughtful. I should always cherish every moment with loved ones; be they family or friends. It's more important to make others happy, than to think of my own welfare. I should always make everyone feel welcome, no matter what the circumstances. I should never look down on anyone. Finally, a good sense of humour will help me through the difficult and trying times, and increase my happiness during the good times.

My reflections are based upon the manner in which my father lived his life. His actions and his beliefs resulted from his ideas about the lifestyle he wanted to lead. Each idea was a part of him, and it was impossible to make him change. The result was a respected, loved, and honoured man. I learned that through his example, I can experience more personal growth to become a better person, a person like whom my father was.

- Love his onliest daughter,
Karen
