DERMOT McCART April 19, 1930 ~ October 15, 2025
The family of Mr. Dermot McCart sadly announces his passing on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Dermot was born on April 19, 1930 in Fort William to parents James and Bridget McCart. He married Jean Gibson on August 18, 1951 and together they raised four children. Dermot worked for Industrial Grain Products and retired at age 55. During his life he enjoyed camping with his family, especially at Quetico Provincial Park. After retiring, he and Jean enjoyed traveled across Canada with their trailer and spent time at their camp on Agimak Lake. Dermot later enjoyed winters in Clearwater, Florida with his second wife, Marian (Henry) McCart.

He was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2008 and his second wife Marian in 2011; his parents and his siblings, Frances, Joseph, Emmett, Lima, Darcy, Marcella, Patrick and Laurence; his son-in-law Michael Grace and other relatives.

Dermot is survived by his daughter Kim Grace of Penticton, B.C. and sons James (Patricia), William (Dana) and Peter (Maureen) as well as eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

Dermot and his Irish humour will be forever missed by his family.

Our family is deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses and support workers at St. Joseph's Hospital and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion during a very difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As per Dermot's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Mountainview Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
