DIANE HARROW Obituary

(Poole)
Diane Harrow of San Ramon California and Lake Country British Columbia died surrounded by the love of her family on January 28th, 2025 at the age of 69 years. She was predeceased by her son Christopher Harrow in 1978 and her parents Cathy and James Poole (2024). She is survived by and will forever be loved by her husband of 50 years Joe Harrow, children Michelle Harrow (Brett), Rachel Baatje, Nicole Harrow (Ryan) and Tim Harrow (Amanda), her grandchildren Hayden, MacKenzie, Xander, Jazmine, Lexi, Phoenix, Kai, Wyatt, Tessa and Eva and her sisters Debbie (Glen) and Wendy (Mike).

Diane was a powerful, driven, and loving force in the world. She lived a rich life that was full of beauty, love and adventure. Though it's impossible to capture her essence in words, she possessed a strong self-assurance, sharp mind, enthusiasm, and warmth, that inspired confidence and trust from those around her. She poured her heart into raising her children, creating a home filled with homemade jams, hand sewn clothing, cakes and desserts, reading, dancing, coffee, hugs, holiday and birthday magic and love. That same devotion extended to her grandchildren with whom she created cherished memories leaving them feeling supported and loved. Diane considered her family Joe, her children and grandchildren to be her greatest accomplishments in life.

A lifelong learner and natural leader, Diane excelled in two distinct careers. She first earned her nursing diploma and spent 15 years in Neonatal Intensive Care and Labour & Delivery. Later she earned an Accounting degree from the University of Ottawa followed by her CA and US CPA designations. With her sharp intellect and determination, she climbed the ranks quickly in the financial field working as a Director and Controller for several US companies.

Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Diane later moved with her family to British Columbia, Ottawa, and eventually settled in California, where she developed a deep love for hiking. She explored trails across North America, including sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and a 192-mile trek across England in 2019.

Diane's wishes are that everyone she loves enjoys a healthy and happy life. In a letter to her grandson, she left this parting advice: "Remember the future is unwritten. Every day that passes you write your own story."

Diane will be missed and remembered by all who know her.
