It is with profound sadness the family of Dolena (Dolly) Pleson announces her passing on Saturday, October 13th at the Geraldton District Hospital at the age of 75. Dolly was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on February 12 and at the age of 17 moved to Toronto, Ontario. It was there, a few years later, she met her husband John. Together they had four children. They were an Armed Forces family and they travelled and lived in various parts of the world from France, to Prince Edward Island and finally settling in Beardmore. For the past 18 years, she made Geraldton her home where she became re-acquainted with old friends and made many new ones. But even with all her travels and living away, Dolly remained a Cape Bretoner through and through. She was feisty, with a great sense of humor and quick wit. Her children and grandchildren loved her sassy nature and there was always laughter hugs and kisses when she was around. She worked hard for her family and was fiercely protective of them. Dolly was predeceased by her husband John, brother Angus, sister Shirley, brother-in-law Bernie, brother Edison, sister-in-law Mary, mother-in-law Stella, father-in-law Alex, sister-in-law Janet, and nephew Blaise. She will be dearly missed by her children Heather (Gary), Alex (Gayle), Tim and Wade. Her beloved grandchildren Eryn, Savannah (Kevin), A.J. (Sharla) and Jillian and most recently her precious great-grandson Alexander. Also left to mourn are her sister-in-law Taffy, brother-in-law Randy (Cindy), nephews Jeffrey and Jordan, brother-in -law Gene Trottier (Leyette), nieces Tania and Tracey. As well, on the east coast, nieces and nephew Almeda, Evelyn, and Eldwood McMullen and in the west Raylene MacKinnon, Darryl and Trevor Gouthro. The family would like to thank the staff of the Geraldton District Hospital, especially the nurses in acute care. We know she appreciated the many kindnesses shown her. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. If friends so wish donations may be made in Dolly's memory to The Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society. On line condolences at
