DONALD DAVIES Obituary

DONALD DAVIES
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Donald Davies at Roseview Manor on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the age of 90 years.

He will forever be remembered by his former wife and friend Bev; his son Philip (Lila) and daughter Janet (Nelson); 6 grandchildren: Carole (Erik), Valerie (Barry), Lindsey (Chris), Shane, Sandy (Lindsay), Kenny (Robyn); 7 great grandchildren: Brynnly, Jase, Addison, Rylan, Kyza, Karson and Taylor; niece, nephews and cousins.

Donald was born in Port Arthur, Thunder Bay District, on March 6, 1933 to Philip and Irene Davies. With the unexpected death of his father he left school at age 17 to work at Abitibi Provincial Paper Mill where he worked until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed residing for many years at Castlegreen Co-op where he made many friends. He enjoyed watching hockey games, especially when his life long favourite team, Detroit Red Wings, were playing. He also enjoyed watching Coronation Street for many years as well as gardening, listening to country music and going for walks in Marina Park. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching baseball, curling, golf, as well as enjoying a beer with his buddies.

He was predeceased by his mother Irene; father Philip; sister Carole; brother-in-law George Vogen; son Kenny; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the health care professionals and staff at Southbridge Roseview Manor for their care of Donald.

In trying to keep things as Dad would have wanted, there will be no formal funeral but a private Graveside Service will be held in the spring of 2024 for family and close friends at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Donald was an animal lover and had a special fondness for wolves. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to wolfawareness.org or to a Charity of Your Choice.

Thinking of Don puts a smile on my face! He was such a good friend to my Mom, Patricia. His exceptional qualities were always being a top notch gentleman, kind, friendly, thoughtful, generous and the list goes on. Thank you for being all that you were to us and those around you. You made this world a better place! <3
