Donald MacDonald Obituary

Mr. Donald Hugh MacDonald, age 81 years, passed away peacefully at Roseview Manor on Friday, May 30, 2014. Don was born in Port Arthur on March 19, 1933 to Hugh and Theodosia MacDonald. Don married Edna Ginger on September 28, 1978. Their love of traveling meant that he and Edna shared many great adventures as they travelled Canada from coast to coast. His last trip was to Toronto with his brother Angus to watch his beloved Toronto Blue Jays, an experience he truly enjoyed. He worked with Abitibi Thunder Bay Mill until his retirement. A sociable person, Don loved being around people and it was in making them laugh that he was happiest. He was a member of Port Arthur Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 499. Don has now gone to be with his beloved wife Edna who predeceased him on May 10, 2011. He is also predeceased by his parents and his brother Ken. Don will be dearly missed by his brothers Lorne (Pam), Angus (Linda) and Gordon (Bertha), sisters Margaret Leathorn and Lorna (Paul Lane) Lutes, 13 nieces and nephews, and dear friends Cathy and Eric Nousiainen and family, Eila and Mauno Long and family and Helmi Kurki. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Donald Hugh MacDonald will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Harold Hunt presiding. The inurnment will take place at Mountainview Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorials to Roseview Manor would be appreciated.
