I am so very sorry to hear of Doris' passing. Deepest condolences and HUGE HUGS to all of the family. I know she will be so very missed by you all. I am so glad that I called Doris a few months back just to say "hello" and get caught up. She and my mom "Cookie" were so close and so many memories shared between them. I am glad that I too got to know my Mom's cousin and all her family. Doris and Bruce were frequent visitors to our home during the days when mom was managing the Voyageur Motel just a short walk away from the Sea-Vue Motel which Doris and Bruce had owned and operated for many years. And even after everyone retired from those Motel days they still got together for visits as oft as they could, a little bit more so once Mom and I moved to Current River right next door to friends of the Nyholm family. :)
So many great memories! I am so glad that I got to know my Mom's cousin and most all of Doris' family. I hope it will give you all some comfort to know that Doris, Bruce, and my mom are now reunited in Heaven... everyone getting all caught up on the latest and marvelling at their new pain free bodies, and happily enjoying everything that heaven has to offer them. We can take some comfort in knowing this is only a temporary goodbye... we too will be in heaven when our time comes to be reunited with our loved ones there. But just like Doris lived as long as she could for your sakes, we too must endure the living out of our lives for the sake of our own children and family who are so much in need of us. Doris was a tough bird (in the most positive of sense). And I know she raised up her kids to be just as tough. So as difficult as this loss is at this moment, I know you will endure just as I did when I lost my Mom. Your mom will always be missed. That feeling never goes away. But in time we just simply "get used to the idea" of our loved one not being here in the flesh... and, we slowly discover that she is ALWAYS with you FOREVER in spirit which manifests in your memories. And in time, that does bring comfort.
Wish I could be there with you right now to support you in this time. In times like this, living halfway across the country so far away from my ThBay family really bites. Hang in there guys... and know that I love ya!
Cousin, Lori McKay-Remus (daughter of Doris' cousin, Ilona Jeanne Turrie, also affectionately known as "Cookie")
