HARPER, DOUGLAS STEWART
With heavy hearts, the family of Doug Harper is deeply saddened to announce his passing on December 18th, 2023, in his 67th year. Doug was born in Terrace Bay, August 19, 1956. He was a kind, loving, and supportive husband, and a devoted father. He was a sports enthusiast and loved to watch a good hockey game, even when his beloved Leafs lost. He volunteered for minor hockey and never missed his son's hockey games He loved to travel and explore many parts of the world with his family. One of Doug's greatest passions was his love of music. He found great joy in travelling far and wide, and attending various venues, to see his favorite musicians in concert. He was an avid collector of musical memorabilia, especially from concerts he had attended. He was an avid reader and a budding author. He sent in a short story to the CBC's Stuart Maclean show and was proud to hear Mr. Maclean read it on the radio. The story was also published in one of Mr. Maclean's books. Doug had a wonderful sense of humour and often made us smile with his one-liners. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Sylvie (nee Landry), and children Daniele and Emily. He is also survived by his children Alison and Sam and grandchild Eleanor, his sister Loreen Martins and brother Michael Knowles. Predeceased by his parents Gary and Maureen Harper and his brother Robert Harper. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 4th, 2024, at St. Martin of Tours Church in Terrace Bay with reception to follow. All are welcome. Donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
