Douglas MacLean Obituary

March 19, 1972 –
February 23, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Douglas Ian MacLean age 44, in Montreal, QC on February 23, 2017. He leaves to mourn his life partner Andrée Brunet and their three beautiful, young sons: Hector, Edouard and William. Doug is the dearly beloved son of Evelyn Thomson, cherished brother of Sharon MacLean (son Judah) and son of Doug MacLean. He always wanted to be an amazing dad and loyal partner and accomplished these in spades. This past year he loved taking his boys out to the chalet in the Laurentians to show them what his granddad had taught him on their camping trips in northern Ontario. Dougie was a bigger than life party man, a loyal friend, a hard worker and was loved by so many for his humour, intelligence and wit. He always knew what to say to make everyone laugh. He was an avid collector and keen trader of music memorabilia. He was an accomplished musician in his own right, composing and recording many of his original works at his Montreal studio with his ami Patrick Boulianne. He learned a new profession and the French Language to become a scenic set dresser landing contracts with many big name movie and advertising companies. He was a proud Scot and Free Mason from the Port Arthur Lodge 499. Ever the fearless warrior, Dougie always said his best days were spent with lifelong best friends Jamie Ward and Mark Halstead whose oldest daughter, Breanne was Doug's god-daughter. A Celebration of Life will be held in Thunder Bay for Dougie on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the DaVinci Center from 1 - 4p.m. In lieu of flowers, please bring a story or two of Dougie to share with others.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Evelyn, Sharon, Dougie's family and Doug.We will always remember Dougie for his ever present smile and the mischievous look. Even from a very young age you knew his wheels were always turning. It is a very sad day to have lost such a gem.
