Memorial service for the late Duncan Charlton was held at the Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery on Saturday, November 26, Edmonton, AB. A heartfelt eulogy was given by James Gill. Tributes were presented by Paege Milligan (sister-in-law), Jon Sylvester, Aaron Shorrock (close friends). Readings were read by Duncan's father (Bill) and his uncle Tony Di Biagio.
Duncan was born in Thunder Bay, ON, 1985 to Bill and Joanna Charlton. As a child, he was active in many sports, going as far to follow his passion of paintball all the way to Edmonton, AB and achieved tournament level status, winning medals. Through this he gained lifelong friendships that he carried through his adult life. His life was filled with camping, fishing, canoeing and his boundless love of board games.
Duncan grew to follow in his mother's footsteps and pursued teaching. He graduated from University of Alberta and received his Bachelor of Education Degree in 2011. He started his career in Northern Alberta and followed it back to his permanent position at Aurora Academic Charter School. He was loved by the students and staff for his professionalism, quick humour, positivity and willingness to mentor all who asked.
In 2015, me his wife, Erin, in Edmonton at a gathering of friends. Duncan and Erin went to have several wonderful years of happiness and adventures together. They spent weekends away at off-grid cabins, road trips across the country exploring sites along the way, eloped in the mountains and hiking whenever they had the chance.
Duncan was predeceased by his grandparents: Maria and Francesco Di Biagio; Albert and Dolly Charlton; his uncle Mike Charlton; and many other aunts and uncles. He is survived by his beloved wife, Erin Charlton (Milligan); his loving parents Bill and Joanna Charlton; Audrey and Rex Milligan; his uncle Tony and aunt Donna and their family; his uncle Mario and aunt Elena and their family aunt Susan (Mike); aunt Po Charlton (Mike), uncle Gordon (Cecile); his dedicated family dog (Bumble) who remained by his side until the paramedics came, and many others who loved him.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in Edmonton at Evergreen's Cemetery “Nature Walk”.
