EDITH REPO Obituary

Edith (Edie) passed away unexpectedly but peacefully July 2, 2025 at her Walford residence. Edie was born December 4,1949 and lived her whole life in rural Thunder Bay.

She was an active member of Lappe Lutheran Church, she enjoyed singing with the choir and working with the youth bringing them on church retreats as well as teaching Sunday school.

After her 25 years as Officer Manager at Motorways Transport, she entered the Lay Ministry working for Lutheran Community Care and Lappe Lutheran Church. She visited and comforted the sick in the hospitals and longterm care homes along with home visits, she comforted many people on their journey from this life into the next with songs and prayers. Edie was also active with F.E.L.M. (Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission) and took part in choir tours to Finland.

She loved spending time with family and friends at the Island Lake summer camp and at One Island Lake. She travelled extensively overseas, enjoyed singing, blueberry picking and snowshoeing.

She is survived by her sisters Mae Tuorila, Eunice Johnson and Judy Salo, brother Reverend Dan Repo (Lorraine), sister-in-law Brenda Repo, brother-in-law Jari Salo as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents John and Lyyli Repo, brothers Paul Repo, Wilbert Repo, sister-in-law Helen Repo, brothers-in-law Arthur Johnson, Stanley Tuorila and nephews Ken Tuorila and Kevin Johnson and numerous aunts and uncles and a great niece and a great nephew.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Walford for their kindness, care and support. She considered it her home and the residents were her friends.

Though we will miss her bright smile and loving nature she is rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and her loved ones.

She often quoted "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths" Proverbs 3:5,6. And God surely did direct her path.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harbourview Funeral Centre with Funeral Service at Lappe Lutheran Church on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Neil Otke officiating. A reception will follow the interment at Lappe Cemetery.

We are so sorry to hear about Edie´s passing. She was the very first smiling face we met when we first walked through the doors of Lappe Church over 50 years ago. She was a beautiful soul and deserves a special place in heaven. We will not be able to attend her service, but we will be thinking of her fondly. Condolences to her wonderful family.
