It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Edith Lillian Strey, age 99 1/2, announces she passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.
Edith was born April 7, 1923 to William and Lillian Adams. She was the youngest of the four Adams children. Edith was educated locally and was proud to have worked as a Rosie the Riveter at the Canada Car plant during the war. It was at the plant that she met the love of her life, Don.
Edith was married to Don Strey on May 4, 1944. They raised their family of four boys in Westfort, living the longest on Heath Street. Edith loved bowling, a sport she enjoyed both playing and watching for many years. Her greatest joy was always the time she could spend with her family.
Edith is survived by her sons Richard, Ron (Ginny) and Gordon (Dawna), six grandchildren and eight (almost nine) great grandchildren, Kelly Duff (Mike) and her children Alora, Cullen, Jordan, Justin, Angelina and Geran of McGrath AB, Stacey Strey, Shelley Strey, Adam Strey and his daughter Kaylee, Carli Kreuger (Travis) and their daughter (arriving soon) and Ryan (Amber) Strey and their son Blake. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Cora in Calgary AB, many nieces and nephews and their families, and by Sets Oda, her dear friend for many years. Edith was predeceased by her parents and siblings Winnifred (Bill) Swan, Bud (Thelma) Adams, Margaret (Jack) Haynes, her husband Don (1980), grandson Robin Strey (1999), daughter-in-law Linda Strey (2012), son Gerald (2020).
Edith's Christian funeral will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 when family and friends will gather at Calvary Lutheran Church, corner of Edward and Donald Streets (parking lot behind the church accessed from Donald St.) at 1:00 pm. Following the service, refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Brian Falkenholt will officiate. Private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later time.
The Strey family would like to thank the staff at Hogarth for the exceptional care given to our mom and grandma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.

My grandmother was Edith´s cousin Dorothy Lee. I have lots of great memories as a kid coming out to visit when Gram and Edith would take us bowling at Superior Bowl. Edith was a heck of a bowler, not to mention a very patient teacher!

I am so sorry to hear of Edith's passing. We were remembering extended family this weekend and I asked of Edith. We checked for an obituary and found one. My sincere condolences.
I always enjoyed a visit with Edith when home visiting my mother Dorothey Lee.
