Edward Cole Obituary

Edward Richard 'Ted' July 20, 1941 - April 29, 2004Ted passed away peacefully, as the false dawn was breaking, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Thursday, April 29, with his family at his side. Ted was born in Dryden on July 20, 1941 to Dolly and Richard Cole. He attended Albert Street School, Dryden High School, the University of Manitoba and Lakehead University. He married Shirley Barabash on July 1, 1967 in Thunder Bay. They returned to Dryden where they raised their family and where Ted worked as a chemical plant operator at the Mill until his retirement in 1997. Ted enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - his family, his friends, his dog, Bucky, going to camp, hunting, puttering in his shed, gardening, a beautiful sunset, a good cup of coffee, and stopping to help someone who needed it. He had a passion for the outdoors and spent as much time as possible fishing on one of the many 'secret' lakes he had discovered over the years. Ted could build or fix almost anything and he enjoyed helping his family or friends with any project no matter how large or small. He never missed an opportunity to share a good visit, a good laugh or a good story. He was always there when you needed him and everyone always appreciated his invaluable advice. These are the things we will all miss. Ted is survived by his mother, Dolly Cole, his wife, Shirley, his children, Jeff, Alison and Jill, his granddaughters, Riley and Drew as well as numerous relatives and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Cole. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Eschbach officiating. Interment followed at the Dryden Cemetery. pallbearers were John Kitt, George Marchiorello, Arnold Bernard, Rob Cesiunas, Sam DeLuca and Garry Hutchison. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Smith, Tom Stratton, Doug Levenick, Don Dingwall, Gary Case and Barry Sampson. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Ted's memory to the Dryden Area Health Services Foundation through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Avenue, Dryden, ON P8N 2X3. Phone: 1-800-290-8114 or Fax: 1-800-221-3005.Don't think of him as gone away -his journey's just begun,Life holds so many facets - this earth is only one.Just think of him as restingfrom the sorrows and the tearsIn a place of warmth and comfortwhere there are no days and years.Think how he must be wishingthat we could know todayHow nothing but our sadnesscan really pass away. And think of him as livingin the hearts of those he touched. . .For nothing loved is ever lost - and he was loved so much."
