Edward Fines Obituary

FINESEdward James of Vancouver, British Columbia passed away June 27, 2002 at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his loving wife Mary and daughter Babs; five sisters in Manitoba and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers. Ed and his family moved to Thunder Bay in 1951. He started working at the shipyard that same year. Due to his interest in the union he became president of Shipyard C.L.C. Local in 1952. His passion for curling kick-started the Shipyard Curling League which grew to twelve or more rinks. Some of the same members are still curling today. From 1958-1963 Eddie was the business agent for International Association of Bridge Structural and Ornamental Local 759 Ironworkers. The family moved to Vancouver in 1966, leaving many good friends behind, including their dear friends Jim and Doreen Mauro."
