EDWARD TRELINSKI
On Tuesday 4 March 2025, Mr. Edward Trelinski age 94 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at his home in Pioneer Ridge with family at his side.
Ed was born to parents Jacob and Helen Trelinski in the municipality of Hanover, Manitoba. When the family built a house on Dublin Avenue in 1942, Ed moved to the Jumbo Gardens area of Port Arthur, Ontario. In his childhood, Ed delivered newspapers, joined his siblings with gardening and picking blueberries. Rebuilding and selling houses was also a family affair.
Ed met the love of his life, Dorothy Sherband at the Finnish Labour Temple. They were married on December 31, 1955. Ed promised Dorothy that they would see the world. Ed and Dorothy did, and they have the albums and pictures to prove it. Ed and Dorothy shared their passion for travel with their 4 children Reginald, Roberta, Randy and Kevin.
Rarely were Ed's hands, or stomping boots, still. Ed enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and hunting with lifelong friends. After his retirement, Ed spent much of his time helping others, markedly volunteering with the Helping Hands Auxiliary for Pioneer Ridge. Dorothy served before Ed and was instrumental in his joining their group. While passionate about work and the outdoors, Ed's family was his main interest; family always came first. To them Ed gave both the gift of dreams and the ability to realize them, and as mentor gently guided each through the labyrinth on their own path.
Ed is remembered by his children Reginald, Roberta, Randy (Deb) and Kevin; grandchildren, Michelle (Julius), Gwen, and Blair (Eric), Joshua (Jessie), and Carly (Jesse), and Lauren (Brad); great-grandchildren Chole, Kayden and Charlotte; siblings Julie, Amelia, and Sally (John); sister-in-law Lynda; brother-in-law Peter, as well as numerous well-loved relatives and friends.
Ed will be welcomed by his loving wife Dorothy of forty-nine years; his parents Jacob and Helen; his siblings Victoria, Nora, Lawrence, and Tom; his brothers-in-law Peter and Harold and daughter-in-law Teresa.
Through each person whose life Ed has positively influenced with his friendship, stories, and wisdom, Ed continues in our memories and by the stories we tell.
There is comfort in coming together to grieve and to share. Celebrate the life of the late Ed Trelinski with a visitation on Friday, March 14 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 11:00 am, with a reception after the service.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Ed's memory to Pioneer Ridge, or another charity.
The family would like to express their thanks to all the staff and volunteers of Pioneer Ridge and Southbridge Roseview LTCHs for their excellent care.
The Service will be livestreamed at
www.harbourviewfuneral.ca where condolences may be offered as well.
