EILEEN M. CHRISTIE (SILVER) Oct 7, 1946 - Jan 30, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Christie of Thunder Bay, ON. Born to parents Nell and Bill Silver in Fort William, ON, Eileen had fond memories of her time spent abroad in England before returning to Fort William to complete elementary school. She enjoyed travelling North America with her beloved husband of 42 years, Ronald. After his passing, Eileen continued to enjoy travelling, to Mexico and to Korea, but her favorite place was always her home in Thunder Bay.
Over the years Eileen hosted many large family gatherings with the Christie house always having an open door for frequent visits by friends and family. Eileen enjoyed playing cards with family, cooking, reading, gardening, having coffee with guests and chatting online with her long-distance family. She cherished her visits to Toronto to spend time with her granddaughters. Eileen never let anyone's special day go unnoticed, and always took great pleasure in providing thoughtful, heartfelt cards and presents.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband Ronald Christie, sisters Valerie Gosse and Susan Reguly and parents Nell and Bill Silver. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children Steve, Michelle (grandchild Luca Murray), Colin (wife Ava) of Seoul, Korea, Sean (wife Kyla, granddaughters Madison Christie and Grace Christie) of Kitchener, Ontario, brother-in-law Charles Reguly, sister-in-law Helen Christie, nieces and nephews, especially Susie Reguly with whom she shared a very special bond with. Her dear friends Donna Czigli of London, ON, and Joan Harding of Oakville, ON and very special neighbours Trish and Darcy Charette whose help has been invaluable, all had an important place in Eileen's heart.
The family would like to express great appreciation to the wonderful hospice team at St. Joseph's Hospital who provided Eileen with immeasurable kindness, care, grace, and compassion in her final days.
As per Eileen's wishes, no services will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the
Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
