It is with profound sadness that the family of Eleanor Ingberg announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, April 2 at the age of 90.
Eleanor was born in Winnipeg in 1932 and moved to Fort William in 1946 where she completed her high school education. She then pursued her passion for nursing at the McKellar General Hospital School of Nursing. It was during her second year of training that she met the love of her life and best friend, Alfred. They married in 1953 and raised 6 children.
Eleanor enjoyed a rewarding career in obstetrics for 27 years. At the encouragement of her husband, she took early retirement to spend more time at Shebandowan cultivating her many gardens or just relaxing and enjoying the tranquility of the lake.
After the unexpected death of Alfred in 1991, Eleanor began travelling the world. When not exploring the world, she spent time at home honing her skills as a duplicate bridge player, joined the church choir, and always made time for short trips to Hinkley with her good friend Laura.
Later in life when health issues limited travel, she joined the knitting club at Chartwell where countless hats were donated to charity.
Predeceased by her husband Alfred and daughter Karen, she will be lovingly remembered by her children Rob, James, Alan, Susan (Don) and Debbie (Blair); grandchildren Michael, Adam, Jesse, Brent, Cody and Amanda; great grandchildren Aiden, Riley, Ethan and Zoey.
She will also be dearly missed by her Chartwell family and lifelong friend Laura.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place with interment at a later date.

Sending sincere condolences to Eleanor´s family. I worked with Eleanor on maternity for a number of years sharing the work, and, enjoying some happy times when infants got to go home.
I was surprised to read her obituary as I was planning to call her to ask if she wanted a ride to our annual McKellar Nurses´ Alumni banquet.
Thinking about you all.
