(McArthur) PRITCHARD
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Eleanore Ann (McArthur) Pritchard, age 82, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Bethammi Nursing Home.
Eleanore grew up in a warm and loving family in the Brent Park neighbourhood, attending Balsam Street School and Lakeview High School. Always active and engaged, she began her working life at McNulty's Clothing Store, where her love of fashion flourished. She also spent a short time working at Zeller's County Fair.
In 1964, Eleanore married Calvin Pritchard, and together then shared more than 56 years of marriage, until his passing in 2021. Over the years, she became a dedicated business partner in Pritchard Gun Repair, contributing greatly to its success.
Eleanore was known for her warmth, generosity and many talents. A wonderful cook, she also enjoyed a wide range of activities including her knitting club, the Arthritis Society and participating in the Thunder Bay Horticultural Society. Through the Norwegian Canadian Association, she cherished her trips to Decorah, Iowa, and took great pride in helping to decorate the Norwegian Christmas tree each year at the Valhalla Inn. She treasured her luncheons with her three sisters and took great joy in tending to her garden. Eleanore and Calvin also enjoyed their time outdoors.
She is survived by her son Derrick (Karon) of Hurkett, ON, her daughter Deanna (Brad) of Barrie, ON and her grandchildren Katrina and Daniel Mitas. She is also survived by her sisters Loretta Cutbush, Janet Ross of Nipigon, ON, Elaine (Ron) Stuart of Calgary, AB, and her brother Lorne McArthur (Rose) of Brantford, ON, and many nieces and nephews, and extended members of the Hartviksen and McArthur families. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Valerie Lempiala (Ken), Carol Pritchard, and brother-in-law Glenn.
Eleanore was pre-deceased by her husband Calvin, parents Aslaug and Ken McArthur, in-laws Violet and Val Pritchard; and brothers-in-law Jim Cutbush, Don Ross, and Mike Pritchard, and sister-in-law Patricia.
Many thanks to the staff of Hogarth Riverview Manor and Bethammi Nursing Homes for your wonderful care of Eleanore over the last several years.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
If desired, donations in memory of Eleanore Ann Pritchard may be made to the Arthritis Society of Canada, or a
