ELIZABETH KRIEG Obituary

EMILY KRIEG April 17, 1933 ~ May 3, 2024
It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Elizabeth (Beth) Krieg on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 91, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Beth was a kind and caring person, honest, with a quick wit and a deep love of family. We will miss her dearly.

Beth was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario to George and Violet Macdonald. She was the youngest of seven children.

Beth went to nursing school and received her diploma in 1955 and retired in 1990.

Beth and Les were married for 66 years. They raised their family in Chippewa moved to Thunder Bay in 1968. Shortly after they purchased a camp at Cloud Lake.

Krieg's Kamp became a gathering place for family, friends, and a growing extended family, where everyone was welcome. There are fond memories of spending time enjoying each other's company at the lake, around the campfire and at the table.

Their love of the outdoors extended to fishing and camping trips. Later, they purchased a condo in Jensen Beach Florida and spent their winters there. They enjoyed their retirement years, golfing, fishing, and spending time with friends. From Florida they travelled yearly to Cancun to spend time with their son Doug and his family.

Beth's family meant the world to her. She taught her children to be independent and find their own way but was there to support them when needed. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren. It gave her great pride to watch them build lives of their own. The arrival of her great grandchildren brought more joy these last few years.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Karen (Scott), Gordon (Susan), Douglas (Mariela), and Kathi; grandchildren: Rachel, Justin (Danielle), Elizabeth (Adam), Devin, Samantha (Alex), Maribeth and Ambar, and great grandchildren: Nolan and Simone and Sunday. She is predeceased by her husband Leslie, sisters Ella, Norma, Isobel, brothers Gordon/Mick, Robert, and Alan.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced.

Beth and Les Krieg always welcomed young people to their home or lakeside camp and my son Wade, was one of them. We all lived in the same neighbourhood here in Thunder Bay. Wade and their sons, Doug and Gord were teenagers and spent much time together , either at their house, their summer camp or our Rec Room on Poplar Ave. The boys were always polite and respectful and we loved having them. Beth will surely be missed by her family and all who knew her. A kind person, friendly and generous.
