ELIZABETH SZILVASI Obituary
1937~ 2025
It is with much sadness and love that on November 20, 2025, Elizabeth (Erszebet) Szilvasi - a dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Elizabeth was born in a small town in Kemecse, Hungary, to a large family. There she married George (deceased) - her loving husband of 57 years. Fate then brought them to Canada during the Hungarian revolution in 1957; leaving their families behind to begin their life-journey in Canada with many new challenges. In August that year, their first child Elizabeth was born, then George 14 months later and Mary 4 years after.
Elizabeth was a very hard worker and was a cleaner and a waitress for many years until she retired. She was fondly remembered as a kind, loving and caring woman to all.
Throughout her many years, she always devoted her life to her family, near and far, whom she loved very much.
Her deep faith in God was observed in the New Apostolic Church for many years, where she is lovingly missed. There she found her peace and strength to endure life's challenges, and will be remembered for her generous and hospitable nature.
Elizabeth will be remembered as gardener, baker and an excellent cook - particularly her Hungarian specialties. She took great pride in making many meals shared around the table, always served with much love.
Her family is left with a legacy of much love, strength and perseverance. Elizabeth will be sadly missed by her Family: Elizabeth (Ivan), Mary (Richard) George (predeceased) (Gabriella); her grandchildren: Michael (Ashley), Natalie, Jessica (Jesse), Andrew (Jessica), Sara, Branden (Katie), Rachel (Jayson); greatgrandchildren: Luke, Olivia, Sadie, Sonny, Eddy, Dexter, Zoey.
On Elizabeth's behalf, the family expresses sincere thanks and gratitude for the excellent care, kindness and compassion shown daily by the staff who took great care of Elizabeth throughout her years and last days in Bethammi Care Home.
You will always be remembered.
While there will be no funeral, the family arranged a private memorial. Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers
