ELIZABETH WILTSE Obituary

JOYCE (nee Whiteley) February 4, 2026
Elizabeth Joyce (Whiteley) Wiltse (1941-2026). It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joyce on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the age of 84. She passed away peacefully at the Mariposa House Hospice in Orillia after battling congestive heart failure.

Loving wife of the late Murray Wiltse (2010). Beloved mother of Lynda Wiltse (Randy Gilchrist) of Orillia and Gordon Wiltse (Ruth Mohammed) of Toronto. Proud grandmother of Cole, her only grandchild. Cherished sister of John Whiteley (Jan) of California, Gordon Whiteley (Julie Fels) of Thunder Bay, Carol Hanley (predeceased), and Anne Burns (predeceased). She was also a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was born in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur), ON. She attended Branksome Hall and Women's College Hospital in Toronto, graduating in Nursing, 1963. Joyce worked as a surgical and private nurse for several years. She also worked as an RN at the Weight Loss Clinic in Barrie. Joyce worked as a Welcome Wagon Hostess in Orillia and later achieved success in sales as a Tupperware Manager and Timeshare Salesperson at Horseshoe Valley. Lastly, she dipped her toes in the real estate world before fully retiring.

Joyce and Murray moved to Horseshoe Valley in 1987 to begin their retirement. In retirement, Joyce enjoyed golfing, swimming and travelling. She was a member of the Horseshoe Valley Golf Club, including the Ladies Night Evening Golf (LON). She also enjoyed live music and theatre and regularly attended the wonderful summer shows at the King's Wharf Theatre in Penetanguishene. Joyce developed a keen interest in watching basketball and enthusiastically cheered for her favourite team, the Toronto Raptors. She loved spending her winters in Manzanillo, Mexico and travelling to other places around the world. Joyce lived life to the fullest!

Joyce was a loving caregiver to her husband, Murray, for many years after his stroke in 2006. This allowed him to enjoy the last years of his life in his own home, close to family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life has been planned for May 23 (1-4pm) at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., in Orillia. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
