It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mrs. Elsie Geils, age 89 years who passed away peacefully at the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 after a brief illness. Elsie was born in Port Arthur on June 20, 1925 to Tom and Mary Slonowski and was a lifetime resident. She worked for many years in the Meat Department at several Safeway stores in Thunder Bay. She enjoyed spending time in her gardens, cooking a variety of Ukranian foods and picking blueberries with her family. Elsie was fond of nature and cherished the time she spent at camp with family or just admiring the view from her home at Boulevard Lake. She was a wonderful caregiver as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and especially as a daughter. She took pride in her independence and ability to maintain her own home. Elsie is survived by her son Jim (Debby) Geils, grandchildren Jamie (Karen) and Jason Geils, great grandchildren Melissa, Kimberly and Jordan and sister Nell Prescott of California. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Joseph in infancy and brother-in-law Jack Prescott. The family would like to thank Dr. Gehman and his O.R. Team as well as the Nurses on the 3rd Floor at the T.B.R.H.S.C for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Randy Boyd of Trinity United Church presiding. A private interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation or Trinity United Church would be appreciated.On-line condolencesmay be made
