ERIC MOLENDA Obituary

ERIC MOLENDA December 4, 1958 ~ February 17, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Molenda, age 67, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Eric passed away on February 17, 2026, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

A long-standing resident of Westfort, Eric attended Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute. After high school, he went straight into the workforce as a cleaner at the Red Oak Inn. In 1978, Eric followed in the footsteps of his father and began working at Canadian Pacific Railroad, where he remained until his retirement on January 1, 2014.

Eric was the firstborn child of Frank and Vera Molenda and lived a simple life, much like his parents. He had a love for food and especially enjoyed his mother's traditional German and Polish cooking. Eric also enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing, and in his younger years he hunted partridge.

Although Eric could be stubborn to a fault, he was also kind, generous and funny, and will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Eric was predeceased by his grandparents Johann and Pauline Grabowski, parents Frank and Vera Molenda, uncle Nicolas Grabowski and aunts Sophie Lupp (Hans) and Elizabeth Grabowski.

He is survived by his siblings Ron, Rick and Linda, nephew Tyler and cousins Liz Johnston (Ian), Leo Lupp (Caroline) and Stephanie Lupp-Scharer (Matthew).

Cremation has taken place and Eric will be laid to rest with his parents at Mountain View Cemetery. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
