ESTHER HENNING
Ester Henning, age 99, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Born in 1926 in Edmonton, Alberta, Esther was raised and educated in that city, working as a writer-producer for radio stations in both Edmonton and Calgary. Moving to Toronto in the early fifties she spent the next several years in advertising for such notables as The Financial Times, Yolles Furniture Stores, The Wool Bureau, The Ontario March of Dimes and others. A TV assignment took her to Sudbury in the late seventies, then to Thunder Bay in 1980. Esther was well known to the Thunder Bay business community, writing and publishing the Chamber of Commerce magazine, as well as "Today in the City" and a variety of supplements for the Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal. She has won several writing awards. In the year 2000 she joined Wal-Mart, retiring in 2011 at age 86. Cremation has taken place; proceeds from her estate are earmarked Salvation Army. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
