ETELKA (ETA) ARNOTH 1941 - 2025
With family by her side, Etelka (Eta) Arnoth passed away on September 14, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with autoimmune disease. The family would like to thank Dr. Brown and the ICU nursing staff of TBRHSC for the love and care they showed Eta. Your compassion and kindness were deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten. Born in Kerekegyháza, Hungary, Eta immigrated to Canada in 1964. That same year, she met and married the love of her life, Géza. Eta loved being a housewife and mother to four wonderful children, while also supporting Géza in establishing and running their family business, Franklin TV and Audio Visual Services. Eta lived a full and active life. She devoted her time to volunteering with, and participating in, the many activities of the Thunder Bay Hungarian Friendship Circle. She also loved gardening, cooking (her Hungarian stuffed peppers were legendary), baking (her family especially adored her cheesecake), and keeping her home immaculate. She enjoyed shopping (always eager to find a good bargain), having coffee at Tim Hortons with her daughters, and spending treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All these things made Eta a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend a truly wonderful person who will be greatly missed. Eta is survived by her daughters Marika (Otto) Anders, Erika (Roberts) Reboks, and Cynthia (Barry) Prochnicki; her son, Géza (Melissa) Arnoth; grandchildren Aaron and Maile Anders, Zara Reboks, Carly and Casey Prochnicki; great-grandchildren Jackson and Jessie Prochnicki; and her sister, Emma. As per Eta's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. To honour her memory, donations to the Arthritis Society Canada would be appreciated.
