Ethel Page Obituary

PAGE, ETHEL H. (nee Willianen) died suddenly, in comfort, at her daughter's home in Vernon on November 24, 2003. Born in Thunder Bay (Fort William), Ontario on February 15, 1913, where she spent the first half of her life, until moving to North Vancouver with her husband, Fred, in 1965. In 2002, she moved to Vernon to live at Coldstream Meadows. Although small in stature she had a giant spirit. Affectionately known as Tiny or the Go-Go Gal we thoughtthatshewould go forever, like the Duracell Bunny. Ethel's legacy, her charm and positive outlook on life touched everyone she knew or just met her in passing. Her immediate and extended family brought joy to her life. She embraced the love of hockey through Fred's involvement and traveled extensively to various events. She was an ardent, active, and later an armchair curler. She took pleasure in writing and receiving correspondence by sending out cards and letters for every occasion. She was a longtime member at the North Shore Winter Club and will be remembered by the Bridge and Curling Clubs. She filled the last year of her life celebrating her 90th birthday and her granddaughter's marriage. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Fred, brothers Ray, Roy, Harry (Pups) and sisters Elma and Norma. Her spirit will be remembered by daughters, Elizabeth Abbotts (Bruce), Judy Fosty (Gerry) and granddaughter Stephanie Durkin (Mike). In addition to her immediate family she leaves many nieces and nephews and special close friends, who will miss her dearly.A Memorial Service will be held at Coldstream Meadows in Vernon at 2:00 p.m on December 1st.A celebration of Ethel's life is also planned at a later date, spring of 2004, in North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated."
