Etienne Deschenes Obituary

Mr. Etienne Deschênes, 39 years young, of Upsala, Ontario, passed away with his family and close friends by his side on Sunday, January 29th at TBRHSC. Etienne's love for all things fast and loud was apparent to all who knew him, whether it was the sound of the bass thumping or an engine roaring, you could always hear him coming. Etienne worked tirelessly every year to prepare his Mustang for the annual Terrace Bay drags, where he could share his love for speed and burning rubber. When he wasn't burning rubber or living life in the fast lane, Etienne was spending time with the people who meant the world to him, his family. Etienne is survived by his mother Jeannine, his 6 brothers Pascal, Raphaël (Tracy), Ulysse, Samuel (Joanne), Moise (Melissa), Mathieu (Krista) and his 3 sisters Judith (Derek), Sabrina (Robert) & Dana, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his father Jules Deschênes. A celebration of life will be held on March 11, at 11:30am at the Upsala Community Centre. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations to the Ronald McDonald house or the Thunder Bay Shelter House, would be greatly appreciated to honour Etienne's passion for helping others in need.

Shock, sadness, disbelief. It is so difficult to understand that this lively, fun loving, cariing kind great chap is no longer with us.
I met him through his great friendship with my son, Bryan, Etienne became a huge part of our family, breezing in and out Napping on the couch, Never ever missed an opportunity to pop in n say hi Made me the most delicious treat. His mom's homemade bread, fresh cream off the top of the milk and maple syrup from Quebec. Big smile on his face as I savoured it My sympathies to all his wonderful family, especially his mom Jeannine. Xx

I met Etienne through my daughter Dani Drewek and was struck how kind and generous of spirit he was. When he spoke of his family you could see that he loved them dearly. Whenever he would visit he proudly produced fresh milk from Upsala or maple syrup from his brother in Quebec. He was a family man through and through but his love of all people was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our prayers are with his family at this time.
