FAYE MCCORMACK Obituary

Faye McCormack, aged 97, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024. Her long and fulfilling life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Faye was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Helen Bowlier; siblings, Ken Bowlier and June Seabrook; her husband, Gilbert (Gib) McCormack, in 2008; and her son, Jamie McCormack, in 2022. Faye lived an active life, enjoying skiing, golf and tennis. She and Gib cherished their camp at Hawkeye Lake for 50 years and spent several winters in Alamo, Texas, during their retirement. Faye loved playing the mandolin and took up the banjo after she retired. Always a hard-worker, Faye worked various jobs before becoming a professor at Confederation College in 1967, earning her degree from Lakehead University shortly after. After a long, enjoyable career, she retired in 1987. Faye is survived by her sons Doug McCormack and Rob McCormack, and her niece, Jo-Ann Seabrook, all residing in Thunder Bay. Rob is married to Debbie McCormack, and they have three children: James, Lydia, and Emily (McCormack) Yacuk. Emily and Dana Yacuk have two children, Eli and Lennon. Lydia and Josh Garcia live in Brampton, ON. Faye's late son, Jamie, is survived by his wife, Maureen, and their children Kristen (McCormack) Lyons, Lauren, and John. Kristen and Rob have three children: Clare, Brendan, and Grace. John and his wife, Holly (McDaniel) McCormack, have a son, Cole. They all live in the United States. Her sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew her. Faye's laughter and warmth will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. In accordance with Faye's wishes, cremation has taken place. She has been laid to rest beside her husband at Riverside Cemetery. A small family gathering will be planned in the future to celebrate her life. Though it is appreciated, the family graciously declines flowers and donations.

My deepest sympathy to Faye´s family and may her memory be a blessing.
I met Faye on the tennis courts of Confederation College and we played doubles together on a regular basis. We always had a good laugh together, sometimes laughing so much it was hard to play. She was one of the most kindest people I have ever met.
When Faye stopped playing I would call her and we would talk. For years I made sure to call her on her birthday. Just a few weeks ago I thought of her and wondered how she was doing.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
