Fernand "Fern" Baril, age 72 years passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2010 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by his side. Fernand was born on September 28, 1938 in Montréal, Quebec to Isidore and Jeanne d'Arc Mondor Baril. He met the love of his life, Murielle and they were married on May 29, 1971 . Together, Murielle and Fernand came to Paipoonge Township where they built their new home, including a workshop for Fernand. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Paipoonge Fire Department for many years and travelled all across Canada working in his trade as a Steamfitter. Fernand's interests were sailing, welding, astronomy, classical music and opera. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Thunder Bay Yacht Club and Plumbers and Fitters Local 628. Fernand is survived by his wife of 39 years, Murielle; daughter Caroline (Charles Euston); two brothers Jacques (Irene) and Donald (Micheline); sister Yolande (Andre) Liboiron; sister-in-law Constance (Jan) Daunais and a brother-in-law Bernard (Louise) Daunais. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for the late Mr. Fernand Baril will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2:00PM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held between 6:00 and 8:00 PM on Wednesday evening in the Westfort Chapel.
