Petty Officer 2nd Class Fiona H. E. Borland CD, age 54, of Victoria, BC formally of Thunder Bay, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital, October 23, 2021, following a five-year struggle with breast cancer.
A career Naval Reservist for 37 years, Fiona served as Section Commander and Services Coordinator, Transition Centre, CFB Esquimalt.
Fiona is survived by her husband Randy Young, her mother Mrs. Margaret Borland, both of Victoria, BC, her brother Christian Borland of Thunder Bay and beloved dog Cruzer.
The family wishes to recognize the many friends, colleagues and shipmates for their ongoing kindness and support. To BC Cancer Care, First Memorial Funeral Services, and the Harbourview Funeral Centre, words alone cannot express our appreciation for your care and concern.
A Service of Committal was held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Military Plot, Riverside Cemetery, alongside her father, the late LCDR Hugh Borland CD. Services and Naval Prayers Conducted by Canon Ed Swayze CD. A bagpipe tribute kindly provided by Pipe Major Bill Peters CD. Following the inurnment, a reception was held at the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans Club #257, Thunder Bay.
