Florence Pampu, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in her sleep at home on March 31, 2024 from natural causes. It was Florence's wish to remain at home. Florence was born in Marcelin, Saskatchewan, April 22, 1923 where she grew up on the family farm. She met the love of her life, Paul Pampu, at a dance and they were soon married. Florence and Paul moved to Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) in 1945. They built the family home on Penfold Street in 1952 where they raised their family, Paulette, Ronald and Janice.
Florence is predeceased by her husband Paul, father Louis Vallee, mother Evelina Vallee, son Ronald Pampu, grandson Paul Pampu and sisters and brothers Anna, Orion, Loretta, Adelard, Herve, Leonard, Marie-Ange. She is survived by daughters Paulette Parsons (Ed and family) and Janice Pampu (Dell Babcock), grandchildren Kevin Bell (Crystal Bradbury), Carla van Eeden (Ryan Gosling), Teresa Solomon (Jim), Ronald Babcock, great grandchildren Abby, Tristen, Ryder and Trae Bradbury; Michell and Calli van Eeden; Celia, Caiya and Richard Gosling; Joseph, Faith and Lucas Solomon and sister Katannya Lepage.
Florence was a homemaker taking care of her husband, children and the family home. She was also a custodian for 20 years at Canada Malting. Florence's favourite hobby was gardening. She also enjoyed music, cooking, sewing, canning preserves and a good yard sale. She was an avid Wrestling fan, watching all of the WWE events that she could. Florence was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and good friend to all. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She was a good listener you could take into your confidence. Her home was open to all. Everyone that met her knows her many wonderful attributes. Florence was born on Earth Day in 1923 so was called "Mother Earth" by family and close friends. Florence's outlook on life was to persevere. She will be missed by one and all.
We would like to thank her doctors and health care providers, neighbors Jack Tkachyk and Darcy McCormack that tried to keep Florence comfortable in her home and especially Pat Lotus.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 Court Street N., officiated by Rev Nancy Ringham.
