Frank DeCicco Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Frank (Santo) DeCicco announces his passing on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at the age of 80. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Elena (Tropea); children Mary Lou, Jerry, and Patricia (DeCicco) Johnson (Dale); grandchildren Erik Tapio, Sylena (Kyle), Isabella, and Ashley Johnson; sister Gabriella Morizio; great-grandchildren Keanu & River Hughes; sisters-in-law Sara DeCicco, Nancy Aiello, Assunta Campigotto, Luigi & Sam Tropea; nieces, nephews, & cousins. He was predeceased by his father Santo Francesco (1942), his mother Mariannina Gagliardi (2001), and brother Geraldo DeCicco (2014). Frank pursued Elena until she said "yes!" and they then married in 1965, where they then moved to Oshawa, where he worked for CN Rail as supervisor.
They decided to move to Thunder Bay in 1972 with Mary Lou and Jerry and bought the home they still live in. Frank worked for Northern Woods Preserver until his retirement in 2007. He loved his family; they were his main concern. He made sure the fridge and cupboards were always full, finding the best deals he could, then tell everyone. He loved his grocery shopping trips. He loved his soccer and his Boston Bruins - no other team mattered! His collection was proudly displayed. He loved his Calabria soccer club; in his younger days he coached and was trainer of his own team. He enjoyed watching cooking shows and tending to his garden. He was also a member of the Italian Cultural Centre for over 50 years. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at TBRHSC and St. Joseph's Hospice Care - Palliative Unit for their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Friends may view a livestreaming of the service on the Sargent & Son Facebook page. Contributions are suggested to St. Joseph's Foundation of Thunder Bay in memory of Frank.
