Franklin Sheare Obituary

SHEARE, Franklin LeoMay 9, 1947 - July 25, 2013Frank died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Frank is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 45 years, Barbara, children Marja, Leanne (Tim Foster), Aaron (Christi Leask), grandchildren Cassandra Sam, Kaelin Foster, Emma Sheare, and his brother Edward (Krys). Predeceased by parents Leo and Henrietta Sheare, in-laws Jim and Beatrice Thomson and granddaughter Addison Foster.Frank was born and raised in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay, ON) where he graduated from Lakeview High School and grew up playing hockey and into his retirement. Frank apprenticed as a machinist millwright in Red Rock, ON and moved to Port Alberni in 1977 to work in the pulp and paper mill, retiring in 2002.Frank and Barb spent their retirement travelling south in their RV, fulfilling his passion for golf. A self-proclaimed "Golfaholic", Frank was a medal winner in the BC Summer Games and a multiple medal winner in the BC Seniors Games. As a devoted father, Frank could be found coaching hockey, soccer or softball with one of his kids or chauffeuring them to the various sport venues.Special thanks to Dr. Wendy Johnsen, Nurse Jackie and the rest of the home care nursing staff for their fantastic support.A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Alberni Golf Club.
