Fraser Dunsford Murdoch passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025. With his 4 daughters by his side, Fraser took a last gentle breath on Boxing Day in his own home just as he wished to.
Born in Perth, Scotland, Fraser immigrated to Canada with his loving parents Winnie and Andrew, and his sister Muriel. Soon after, Blair was born and their family was complete. At a young age, Fraser began his own family with his wife, Connie. While he worked for the Ministry of Transportation for 30 years, Dad's true calling was parenthood. He offered guidance, support, nurture, and love to his children and his grandchildren in such a profound way that this will forever be his legacy.
From pneumonia on the ship from Scotland to disease and a catastrophic workplace injury, Dad spent much of his life in a constant fight to stay healthy and keep infection at bay. So, with the full respect and cooperation of his family, he decided he'd fought enough and chose to rest. For 12 days, his family surrounded him at home and supported him through his final breaths.
Fraser is survived by his daughters Michelle (Paul), Jodi (Gilles), Tricia (Darren), and Jaime; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Sebastian (Takwana, Nahla, Nevanji and Arlo-Blue), Zachary (Megan), Rowan, Krista (Kaitlin), Evan (Nicole), Sydney, Jacob (Presley), and Joshua; his beloved siblings Muriel and Blair and their families; and his son Keith, who Dad was blessed to meet later in life. His longtime best friend Brian and his family also mourn his loss. Fraser was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Winnie, and his granddaughter Abby, who lived in his heart forever.
Fraser's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his care team over the years, and especially to Brett from VON for his dedicated efforts to preserve Dad's health and for offering a warm smile and kind words throughout the past 18 months. They also extend sincere thanks to Janna from VON for her exceptional care and compassion during his final days.
While Dad loved fiercely and showed up for everyone, he never asked for anything in return. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service to celebrate his life. We encourage those who wish to honour Fraser to do so by enjoying good food, hunting around for a great deal, and offering unconditional love to your children and grandchildren these were the things that brought him the most joy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rowan Tree Collective, an organization close to Dad's heart, rooted in kindness and named for his grandson.
