Gary Letourneau Obituary

Mr. Gary Michael Letourneau, 65, of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on September 2, 2021, after a short but courageous battle with Cancer. Gary was born in Kenora on June 21, 1956. At a young age Gary's family moved to Thunder Bay. Even though Gary had lived in many cities across Canada throughout his life, ultimately Thunder Bay was his home. Gary was an exceptional residential and commercial painter. Many houses and businesses in Thunder Bay have been touched by Gary's paint brush. Gary ended his lifelong career of painting with the Painter's Union IUPAT Local #1671. Gary was also an amazing pool player. Even though he would get frustrated when he missed a shot, he was always proud of the game he played and it showed by all the trophies displayed from the tournaments he had won, which also included winning a trip to Las Vegas and Edmonton. Gary could always be found having a Friday night game of poker with friends, while sipping on a beer, building bird houses, or casting a line in the lake trying to catch the big one. Gary is survived by his only child, Cheryl Freeborn (Shawn), grandchildren Paris (Ryan), Alaska (Deven), London, and Boston (who Gary referred to as B-Boy), Sister Sherry Hannah (Rick), and brother Robert. As well as many nieces, nephews, brother/sister in laws, and friends. Gary was predeceased by his wife Cindy, mother Mary, step-father Pete, brothers Paul and Camille, mother and father in-law Rose and Ray, and brother-in-law John, and his side kick Harly. As per Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 18, from 12-3 at the Moose Hall on Fort William Road. Covid protocols will be in place, and a mask is required for entry. The family would like to thank ICU Dr's Brown, Piper, and Ruberto, and all the nursing staff who cared for Gary, your kindness, compassion, and help was beyond compare. We would also like to thank Dr's Ramchandar, Faghih, and Del Paggio, and all staff at the Cancer Centre for helping Gary get through this difficult time.

It's not goodbye, it's see you later….till we meet again!
