Gary Wiggins Obituary

Mr. Gary James Wiggins age 67 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at the TBRHSC, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 with his family by his side. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 37 years Sophie who he loved immensely. He was employed by the Lakehead Public School Board as the Supervisor of Plant Operations until his retirement in 2015. Gary was a gentle, quiet man who was an avid reader, an amazing and creative carpenter who tinkered in his garage on any project for his loved ones. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping at his sister's on Hawkeye Lake as well as Amber Lite Resort with his crew Ken, Dave and Jerry. He spent many days chatting with the boys in his second home "the Garage". He also loved and spent hours with his fur babies in the backyard.

Gary will be greatly missed by his wife Sophie (Olesiak), mother Marilyn, brother Dave and sister and confidante Jennifer Howie (Jeff), nieces Alex Howie (Don), Cayleigh MacLean (Zach), Jordyn Howie (Liam), Ashley Wright (Blair), Stephanie Dumais (Stephane), Jessica Olesiak, nephews Jerry Wiggins (Bree) and Jordan Olesiak (Sarah), his best friends and cousins Ken and Jerry Rojick and his fur babies Bella, Lily and ToeZ.

Gary is predeceased by his father Donald, brother Kevin and in-laws Edward, Aniela & Antoni Olesiak.

Memorial services for Gary will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Larry Kurec officiating. Cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to TBRHSC Cancer Centre or the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.

Gary was the most extraordinary and loving man with whom I have had the privilege of working! He cared about everyone ,, students and staff! He made every student feel valued. Gary brought his love, calm, and wisdom to school every day. He was a rare person! Truly, this one man did so much with his quiet strength and his love. I am very grateful to have known him.
