GEORGE TAKACS Obituary

GEORGE TAKACS
The family of George Takacs sadly announces his passing July 9th, at home with his family by his side. George was born March 10, 1935 in Kapuvar, Hungary.

George came to Canada in the spring of 1957. George met his wife Ethel (Nagy) in Fort William in 1957 and they quickly fell in love and got married on July 21, 1958 in St. Patrick's Cathedral. George and Ethel had 3 sons and George shared many of his talents with them. George worked first in Bush camps in Geraldton, until starting at Canada Car. After Canada Car, George worked and retired from Thunder Bay Public Library as Custodian after 21 years in December 1999.

George is survived by his wife of 65 years Ethel, sons George (Carol), John (Sheryl), and Steve. Grandchildren William (Bethany), Mary Ann, Justin (Jessica), Matthew, Christopher, Cassidy and Camryn (Tyler). George is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Varga and family in Hungary, and brother Imre Takacs (Terez) and family in Hungary. Sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kovacs and family in Thunder Bay, Katalin Nagy and family in Hungary. George also had many nieces and nephews in Hungary.

Anyone who met George would know how kind and generous a man he was. George loved his sons and his grandchildren and was proud of all they have accomplished.

Hi George and Steve

I just learned of your fathers passing via the grapevine back in Kapuvar. I am sorry for your loss. Hopefully, we can get together one day in the future and reminisce about Thunder Bay in the 60's and of course our parents.
