GEORGE WIGMORE Obituary

June 28, 1935 - December 19, 2025
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Robert Wigmore on December 19, 2025 at the age of 90 years in the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, with his family by his side. In 1961 he married the love of his life Margaret and shared many happy years together before mom passed away in 2005. In his early years he worked at The Prince Arthur Hotel, in 1969 he moved to the Lakehead School Board where he worked as a custodian for over 25 years before retiring. He loved his job and took pride in his work. As a family we camped all summer long and spent many fun-filled years at Falcon Lake Campground with longtime family friends. 40 years ago, mom and dad settled in at Pass Lake Campground where they met new friends and shared many laughs around the campfire. George will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Brenda Nahkala (Kevin), grandson's Mitchell and Cameron (Erin), daughter in law Ellen, grandson's Blake (Courtney) and Devin (Montana), great grandsons Miles and Maddox, brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Rosalie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his wife Margaret, son Kevin, parents George, Ada and his sister Violet. The Funeral will take place on January 12, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. Those unable to attend the services in person may do so via livestream on the Sargent & Son Facebook page. Gifts of Remembrance in honor of his son Kevin can be made to the Northern Cancer Research Fund or to a charity of your choice.

Brenda and Family:
We were saddened to hear of the loss of your Dad. Our families spent many happy times together at hockey rinks and campgrounds throughout the region. Mr. Wigmore was always the first to ask how you were doing and what you were up to. He had a quiet patience and calm demeanour that put people at ease, a true friend and neighbour. He will be missed. Our deepest sympathies to your family.

Lloyd and I are sending our deepest condolences to Brenda and family. We were all close friends for many years. I used to babysit you and Kevin. We´ll never forget all of the times we spent together as families. Your dad, always Mr. Wigmore to me, was always a kind and caring man. We´re so sorry for your loss. XO

I met George through his sister Vi who I was a friend and I worked with for many years. He was one of the nicest men I ever met, a true gentleman. May he rest in peace. I am sending sincere condolences to his family.

One of the nicest men ever. Nothing Geroge would not do for another human being. He brought joy and kindness always and was one of our favorite fellow campers. Glad he gets to be with Kevin and Marg again. Our deepest symppathies. Noreen & Steve Dafoe
